I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Kate W. Bender, the old home place situated upon the southwest corner of Jackson and Peyton streets in the said City of Memphis, also those certain real properties together with all improvements thereon known as 519 Peyton st and the fifty foot lot known as 499-1/2 Peyton street. Both in said City of Memphis, to have and to hold for the term of her natural life with remainder over to our two children, Salome H. McConnell and Charles Alexander Bender, and as to said Salome H McConnell, said remainder shall be for the term of her natural life with the remainder over to her two children, share and share alike. 2nd. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved sister, Salome D. Muller, those certain real properties known as 493 Peyton street, the same having a frontage on the west side of Peyton street of fifty-five feet by a depth westward of ninety feet more or less and the real property on the west side of Peyton street adjoining on the north that certain property known as 499-1/2 Peyton street, in said City of Memphis, the said real property hereby bequeathed being and having a frontage of one hundred feet on said Peyton street by a depth of one hundred fifty feet, more or less, to have and to hold in fee simple. 3rd. The sixty acre farm which I own and which is situated in the 12th Civil District, Shelby county, State of Tennessee, and known as the Whitehaven farm, I give, devise and bequeath unto my brother-in-law, Wm. Campbell, in trust for my said wife and my said children and their issue for the term of five years from and after my death, with full power to my said trustee to sell, mortgage or lease said property and to invest the proceeds thereof as he seems best, if in his judgment such will be for the best interests of my estate. 4th. The 240 acre farm which I own and which is situated in Crittenden County, State of Arkansas, I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, to have and to hold in fee simple. All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, (real, personal and mixed and wheresoever situated), I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, to have and to hold in fee simple. I expressly and intentionally omit to make any other provision for my children, whether the same are now born, or that may hereafter be born to me and my said wife, save as above stated, well believing that my beloved wife will amply provide for them as she is able. I nominate and appoint my said wife, Kate W. Bender, and my beloved sister, Salome D. Muller, as executrixes of this my Last Will and Testament, to serve without bonds. I hereby revoke and annul each, any and all former wills, Testaments and Codicils by me made. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of February, 1909 A. D.4

Graduation robs us of "Chief's" services for the next year and it is the verdict that Ole Miss is losing one of the South's best athletes. May he meet with as much success in the world as he has met on the gridiron." "Chief" is one of those good fellows who is always willing to play well a man's part. To name his most admirable trait would be difficult for they are too numerous. On the football field he was one of the first to make the gains, and likewise on the baseball diamond and the basketball court. In the class room he was first to answer. In society's game he always drew a winning hand. He is truly an all-around college man.".7
