Education | between 1913 and 1914 | He was educated between 1913 and 1914 at University of MississippiBG in Oxford, Amite, Mississippi, United StatesBG. "Charlie Bender - Fullback - Another of the good things which the University fellows are wont to get from Memphis is Charlie Bender. At full he made good from the very first scrimmage on the very first afternoon. Quick, heavy, fast, he ripped through the opposing line like a sharp knife through cheese. Next season will find him at full again for the Red and Blue.".6 |
Education | between 1914 and 1915 | He was educated between 1914 and 1915 at University of MississippiBG in Oxford, Amite, Mississippi, United StatesBG. "C. A. Bender - "Chief" - Fullback - During his two years with us, "Chief", with his speed, strength and experience has made the Ole Miss eleven an invaluable man. From Fullback this big athlete rarely fails to hit the line for a gain and is a speed demon when carrying the ball. Always a close student of the game, "Chief" is quick to observe and take advantage of a weak spot in the opposing team. Due to this and to his hard, consistent playing he has helped to add more than one victory to those that have been chalked up to our credit during his stay at Ole Miss. Graduation robs us of "Chief's" services for the next year and it is the verdict that Ole Miss is losing one of the South's best athletes. May he meet with as much success in the world as he has met on the gridiron." "Chief" is one of those good fellows who is always willing to play well a man's part. To name his most admirable trait would be difficult for they are too numerous. On the football field he was one of the first to make the gains, and likewise on the baseball diamond and the basketball court. In the class room he was first to answer. In society's game he always drew a winning hand. He is truly an all-around college man.".7 |
