Marriage	27 December 1842	He and Margaret Gilstrap were married on 27 December 1842 in Pickens, Pickens, South Carolina, USAB G.¹
Death	7 May 1864	He died on 7 May 1864 at age 42 in Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Virginia, United StatesB G. The military paperwork found in Margaret's widow's pension files say two different death dates( 6th or 7th). It is my belief Hugh was on picket duty on the night of the 6th and found dead on the morning of the 7th. Official records say the 7th.
