The Last Will and Testament of George Alexander In the name of God Amen I George Alexander of the County of Randolph and State of North Carolina being weak of body but of a sound mind and memory thanks be to God for his mercies and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die and after death the judgment do this day in Sixth Year of our Independency Do make and Ordain this my last will and Testament in manner following (Viz) first I resign my Lord to face who gave it and my body to the dust to be Decently buried at the Discretion of my Executors in an orderly manner and as to what worldly substance it hath pleased God to bestow me with I give devise & dispose in the following manner and form (Viz) Item I do devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jean the third of all my personal Estate In movable with the negro wench while she remains a widow & also the house she now lives in during her natural life. If she does not see cause to marry but if she sees cause to marry my will is that she shall leave the place Immediately and out of this third of my personal and real Estate to receive one feather bed and bedding of clothes with one horse & saddle Said horse to be the value of ten pounds of the ass or mare & saddle & the remaining third Of this my real & personal estate after her mare & saddle bed & bed clothes is first payed off I give and devise to my four sons James Joseph Benjamin & Samuel share and share alike and the negro wench to my Daughter Margrett at my (blank) Wife's Death or marriage but if my beloved wife do not see cause to marry my will is that she may dispose of her third of my personal at her death As sees proper all but the negro wench to my daughter Margrett at my (blank) death or marriage but in case said wench should have hereafter any children It is my will that my said wife may Dispose of them amongst my children as they think best Item I give to my son John the full sum of five pounds to be in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal I give to my son John Son George ten pounds to be paid at my Death Item I give & Devise to my son William five pounds to be paid in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal I also give to my son William Alexander Son That is his son George ten pounds at my decease I give and bequeath to my son Stephen five pounds to be in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal As also ten pounds to Stephen Son George to be given him at my decease Item I give to my son David the full sum of Five pounds with one cow & calf to be in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal & also ten pounds to David Alexander son George to be paid him at my decease Item I give & devise to my son George five pounds in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal I also give to his son George ten pounds to be paid at my decease Item I give & devise to my son Thomas Alexander five pounds in full of his share of my Estate both real & personal Also I give to my son Thomas Son George ten pounds to be paid him at my decease Also I give bequeath & devise to my son James Alexander his heirs or Assigns my will with one negro child named Pompey with three cows & one feather bed & bed Clothes with two sheep Item I give & devise to my son Joseph Alexander and to my son Thomas Alexander their Heirs or assigns a tract Survey on plantation of land laying or being on the Alamance in Guilford County whereon my son Thomas now lives to be equally divided share & share alike I also give to my Son Joseph one horse named North with a colt (blank) Of the gray mare with three cows with a featherbed. |

Item: I give to my son John the full sum of five pounds to be in full of share of my Estate both real and personal. I give to my son John's son George ten pounds to be paid at my death. Item: I give and devise to my son William five pounds to be paid in full of his share of my Estate both real and personal. I also give to my son William Alexander's son that is his son George ten pounds at my decease. I give and bequeath to my son Stephen five pounds to be in full of his share of my estate both real and personal as also ten pounds to Stephen's son George to be given him him at my decease. Item: I give to my son David the full sum of five pounds with one cow and calf to be in full of his share of my Estate As also ten pounds to David Alexander's son George to be paid him at my decease. Item: I give and devise to my son George five pounds in full of his share of my Estate both real and personal. I also give to his son George ten pounds to be paid at my decease. Item: I give and devise to my son Thomas Alexander five pounds in full of his share of my Estate both real and personal. Also I give to my son Thomas' son George ten pounds to be paid him at my decease. Also I give bequeath and devise to my son James Alexander his heirs an assign my still with one negro Child named Pampey with three cows and one feather bed and bed close with two sheep. Item: I give and Devise to my son Joseph Alexander and to my son Thomas Alexander their heirs an assigns a tract Survey on plantation of land laying or being on the Alliande in Guilford County as hereon my son Thomas now lives to be equally divided share and share alike. I also give to my son Joseph one horse named ____ and a colt of the gray mare with three cows with a feather bed and bed close and two sheep with the liberty of using Smith tools whilst he stays on my plantation. Item: I give and Devise to my two sons Benjamin and James Alexander the plantation whereon I now live to them their heirs Assigns to be equally divided Share and Share alike between them. I also give to my son Samuel one Mare Colt that come of the gray mare with two sheep. And it is my will and desire tht after my must Debts and funeral Charges and legacies above mentioned be first paid the remainder of my personal Estate I give to my two sons Benjamin and Samuel Alexander share and share alike and it is my will that my two last mentioned sons shall support their mother with firewood Cut and drawn to her door sufficient for her use and meat, drink, and bread for her support and the negro wench and their mother a mare and two cows As long as she remains a widow to support for her use. It is also my will tht my Executors shall purchase a sidesaddle for my daughter Margrett and the cost to be paid of my personal estate. I also give to her son Joseph Wind two sheep and do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Jean with my son James Alexander Executors of this my last will land testament indeed hereby utterly disavow and Disannul all former wills by me made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal seventh day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty, signed, sealed, published, and Declared by the within Testator the said George Alexander to be his last will and Testament.
