Will | 15 July 1769 | He signed a will on 15 July 1769 in Maryland, United StatesBGO. Portions of Will of James Watson, died 1769-1777 Our presumed ancestor James, grandson of Elizabeth Gott and James Watson and son of Jane and William Watson 1, was born in Kent County, Maryland. about 1679 and died in Prince George's County about 1777. His will was made July 15, 1769, and proven March 17,1777. Bequests were made to sons William (part of tract Wood Come), James, Jr., (all that remains of Watson's Forest), and John and Issac (part of tract Colberk, all lands in the neck Bood Come by Chance and Standies Chance equally). To daughter Jane (30 acres where she now lives during widowhood) and to daughters Elizabeth. Jane, and Sarah (part of Trenant. Woodburn, Colebrook equally) and to grandson Alexander Oliver (all lands that I have at the place called Horse Head), were additional bequests given. ********His wife was not named and neither her given name nor surname is known.******* SEE NOTES ATTACHED TO WIFE? ANN PERRY The following notes from R.M. Johnson--- Historian Poplar Springs North Baptist Church James Watson, Jr., son of James, Sr., (who was the son of Jane and William Watson), was born in Prince George's County about 1705 and married Ann Perry, daughter of John and Elizabeth Dawson Perry, in 1727. In his will John Perry stated that his daughter married James Watson. Another James Watson resided in Prince George's County, Maryland, simultaneously and there is no assurance that our James is the one who married Ann Perry. John Perry, the son of Susannah Perry was born in August 1693, and made his will in 1753. He may have been the son of John Perry who was a postrider in 1695 who consented "to go eight times a year betwixt Potomac and Philadelphia" and he may have been the John Perry who was a Corporal in Captain Tobias Belt's Company in Prince George's County in 1748. Edward Dawson, in his will probated 1732, recognized grandson Edward (son of John Perry), his wife Mary, his son Edward, and others. Edward had been transported in 1677 and may have been the son of John Dawson who had been transported in 1672. Both owned land in Prince George's County which was later incorporated within Montgomery Co.,Maryland. Edward had "Mill Land", consisting of 214 acres, surveyed in 1724.1 |
