Anecdote | Ann Carey is not/cannot be the daughter of John Hundson Carey and Mary HydePosted 21 Nov 2016 by Robin McLarenAnn Carey, wife of Roger Daniel IV, alleged by many to be the descendant of Mary Boleyn, sister to Ann, wife of Henry XIII. A Lady with a Squirell and a Starling. My own family tree traces back to Ann Carey. I first found this lineage a year ago on the LDS familysearch site and took it at face value. I have since found this repeated across most geneology sites I have visited. The following informational facts will prove that Ann Carey, wife of Roger Daniel IV could not possibly be the daughter of Baron Carey and Mary Hyde.1. Researching Baron Carey and his wife Mary Hyde, they indeed had a daughter named Ann. Their daughter Ann however has no mention of marrying Roger Daniel Baron Carey, Mary Hyde Carey and their daughter Ann are all buried in the cemetery at Hundson Parish in England: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GScid=2317576&GRid=75985118& "The south Chapel was built by John Carey, 3rd Lord Hunsdon, in about 1610 in his own lifetime to hold a tomb for him and his wife. His monument in alabaster is of the highest sculptural quality then available in England.Baron Hunsdon is a title that has been created twice. It was first created in 1558/9 in the Peerage of England by Queen Elizabeth for her cousin Sir Henry Carey,(a soldier and courtier)to whom she gave Hunsdon House.Mary Hyde Carey http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=79327598And bingo here's their daughter Ann http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=167670249I usually do not cite Wiki as a source but in this case the information is easily verifiable by googling. He married Mary, the daughter of Leonard Hyde of Hyde Hall and Throcking, Hertfordshire, widow of Richard Peyton of Little Chesterford, Essex. They had three sons and two daughters.[2] Henry Carey (Dec 1577 - Dec 1577) [3]Henry Carey, 1st Earl of DoverCharles Carey, married Elizabeth WhitbrokeBlanche Hunsdon (d. 6 Nov 1651), married 1) Christopher Peyton and 2) Sir Thomas Wodehouse [4]Anne Carey (bur. 6 Dec 1622), married Sir Francis Lovell of East Harlyng Further proof:https://books.google.com/books?id=-VBBAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA399&lpg=PA399&dq=sir+francis+lovell+East+Harling+in+Norfolk+ann+carey&source=bl&ots=SwYHEB-uYP&sig=1O8bOFKcI9FbvLQyPymwxBfVQsw&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiZmI6egbrQAhVHslQKHURTB6MQ6AEIQTAI#v=onepage&q=sir%20francis%20lovell%20East%20Harling%20in%20Norfolk%20ann%20carey&f=falseIt is very clear that Ann Carey daughter of John and Mary Hyde Carey married Francis Lovell and is buried in England. The story of who Ann Carey, wife of Roger Carey actually may be explained by one Miles Carey, "kinsman of Roger Daniel" who sailed to America with Roger. Not long after Miles Carey arrived a rumor started that he had inherited vast riches in England. Follow CLOSE scutiny as detailed in "The Virginia Carys, An Essay in Geneologyhttps://archive.org/details/virginiacarysan00harrgoogMiles Carey hailed from Bristol, as did Roger Daniel IV. These Careys in Bristol were NOT the Careys who had married into the Tudors. They were in mercantile.Furthermore, while Miles Carey freely used the Carey Coat of Arms (of the Tudor related Careys), the permission to use the Coat of Arms to the Bristol Careyswas not granted until 30 years after Miles' death.Ann Carey LOVELL the daughter of Lord Carey and Mary Hyde died and was buried in 1622The LDS site has Ann Carey born in 1590 died in 1668. This ERROR has been repeated across multiple geneology sites in regards the the ACTUAL Ann Carey daughterof Lord Hundson and Mary Hyde who died in 1622 and is buried in England | |
