AnecdotePleasant Meador and his brother Ballard Samuel Meador left their home in Virginia and headed south. They left their father and stepmother on the family plantation near Gravel Hill in Buckingham County, Virginia, where they raised tobacco. They meant to join their cousins in Tennessee.Eventually they settled in Marshall County, in Northeast Mississippi, in the early 1850’s.2
