They left their father and stepmother on the family plantation near Gravel Hill in Buckingham County, Virginia, where they raised tobacco. Buchanan. 2nd enlistment Pvt. COB, 1st. Reg. Ms Partisan rangers enlisted 8-1-1862 at Ripley, Mississippi for 3 years by Col. W. C. Faulkner. He was wounded in action near Iuka, Mississippi on Sept 19, 1863.He is listed on numerous company muster rolls. This company later became the 7th Mississippi Calvary. BALLARD received a confederate pension until his death in 1904, and MARY a widows pension until her death in 1919. BALLARD SAMUEL MEADOR was a carpenter & brick layer. He died in 1904 in Hickory Flats, Mississippi, and is believed to be buried in Old Zion Hill cemetery in Union County, Mississippi, near the parents of his son in law, MARCUS YOUNG.1 |
