It is believed that this bond is for Eliza to obtain guardianship of son James Ansley Adams who was most likely a minor at the time. Eliza married 2nd Warren M. Williams on Dec. 30, 1856 in Lowndes County. The State of Alabama, Lowndes County Know all men by these presents, that we Eliza Adams, C.W. Adams, and Solomon Adams of the County and State aforesaid, are held and firmly bound unto James W. Graham, Judge of the Probate Court of said County, and his successors in office, in the penal sum of four hundred dollars, for which payment well and truly to be made and done we bend ourselves, our heirs, executors, or administrators, jointly and severally, firmly, by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this day of AD Eighteen hundred and sixty- . The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounded been appointed Guardian of the ____and property of James Adams. Now if the said Eliza Adams shall well and truly perform all the duties which are, or may be, by law, required of her as such Guardian then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force.
