In a bill of complaint Sallathiel Harrison states that his mother, Mary Scott, widow of Daniel Scott died intestate in the year 1759. [adm 12 Dec 1758 - MB 25:175]. The said Mary had some small estate and also the dower of her former husband's lands (120 A). It was sufficient to support her in old age having neither young children nor servants. She lived with her son, Bayly Scott, but supported and maintained herself. The said Sallathiel was granted administration on her estate. The said Bayly refuses to deliver the remainder of his mother's estate and has given away or hidden a number of articles such as bed curtains, clothes, etc. The said Bayly claims that his mother gave most of her possessions to him in her lifetime.5
