In the name of God, Amen, I Elizabeth Cole being in a low state of health and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appropriate for all mankind once to die and being of sound mind and memory and wishing to bring my earthly business to a close I do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form as following viz. First of all my will is to recommend my soul to almighty God that gave it and for my poor frail body to have a decent burial by my children. My will is that all my just debts be paid. My will is that after that: that the legal heirs of my son Reuben Cole deceased shall have one third part of all my earthly estate that I am in possession of that is not willed away by my husband William Cole. After my death my will further is that my sons Isaiah Cole and WIlliam Cole shall have after my decease, and equally divide the other two thirds of all my earthly estate that I am in possession of at my death that was not willed away by my above named husband William Cole. My will further is that the legal heirs of my son Reuben Cole have each of them one dollar in cash. After my decease and my will further is that Isaiah Cole, my son, and William Cole, my son, have after my death, each a counterpain and pillow case and my will further that my son Isaiah Cole have after my decease the newest bed quilt and for my son William Cole to have the next newest bed quilt that I am in possession of. Also, my will further is, and I do this day make and approve my beloved son, Isiah Cole, my lawful Executor and furthermore I make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form above written in witness whereof I Elizabeth Cole have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of April in the year of our lord 1833 Signed in presence of us Wm. Whereas Isaiah Cole the executor therein named appeared in open court and was duly qualified. She died after 29 Apr 1833 in Chatham County, NC.
