Anecdote | Nancy Louise Rinehart born about 1793--Who was her father?Posted 15 May 2017 by bevloomis1 Some researchers have speculated the father of Nancy Louise Rinehart, born 1793 or 1794 (who married John Love, born about 1793, and lived as an adult in Greene County, Tennessee) was Johannes (John) Reinhardt, born about 1755 in Pennsylvania, who may have been a son of German immigrant Jacob Reinhardt, born about 1720. But there are many unanswered questions regarding the early Reinhardts. Rinehart was one of the Americanized spellings. There was a Jacob Reinhardt who immigrated from Germany in 1737 with a Conrad Reinhardt on the ship Townsend. A marriage record is found for a Jacob Reinhardt and Anna Margaret Holb on August 21, 1750 at Falkner Swamp, Montgomery, Pennsylvania─possible children attributed to them include Catherine, Christine, Margaret, Anna Margaretha, Conrad, Johannes, John George (?), Jacob, and Elizabeth. A Jacob Reinhardt (father or son of same name?) received a land grant for 640 acres in Howards Creek, in former Tryon County, North Carolina in 1767 and migrated there. There few definitive records for Jacob, or for Jacob’s possible son Johannes/John. There were several people of the same or similar names in the same time period, and differentiating them is difficult. There is a Pennsylvania marriage record (no date) for a John Rinehart, born 1756, to Mary (no maiden name), but again, no way to know if this is the same person. There were a Jacob Rinehart, a Conrad Rinehart, and a Susannah Rinehart who married in Greene County, Tennessee in 1809, 1812, and 1813. These were very likely siblings of Nancy (who also lived in Greene County in this time period and married in 1818), but their father is not known.Nancy Louise Rinehart and John Love had the following proven children: 1. Sarah “Sally” Love, born about 1820 2. Hamilton Love, born about 1824, married Mary 3. Samuel Ebzan Love, about 1827-1910, marred 1st Emma Bailey, 2nd Sarah E. Darnell 4. Luther M. Love, 1829-1867, married Bertha Lovette 5. Harriet N. Love, 1832-1921, married William Rufus Stallcup 6. Martha Ann Love, 1834-1814, married Ephram Hauser According to Nancy's daughter Martha's death certificate, Nancy Louise Rinehart was born in Lewisburg, Greenbrier, Virginia (now West Virginia). According to daughter Harriet's death record, Nancy was born in Greenbrier, Virginia. But no ties to that state have been found for Johannes/John Reinhardt. In conclusion, no verification can be found that Johannes “John” Reinhardt, possible son of Jacob Reinhardt, was the father of Nancy Louise Rinehart. Although Nancy was very likely connected to the Reinhardt family who imigrated, the exact connection is uncertain. | |
